Hiring Process: Corporate Psychologist & Culture
I see a trend happening where companies are adding another element to the hiring process that includes an interview by the company’s psychologist or corp culture specialist. This step has been happening after the hiring manager determines it’s someone they want to hire but before making the offer.
PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT TOOLS
Over the years, tests like DISC Profile, Keirsey Temperament and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator have been popular in assessing the type of personality or temperament for the candidate. These tests have helped the hiring organization more precisely determine higher level fit based on the results.
DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness. The Keirsey Temperament Sorter is designed to associate the test taker into one of 16 personality types. Myers-Briggs attempts to show how the test taker perceives the world and make decisions.
Some companies use one or more of these tests, or tests similar in nature, as an important gauge into fit for the position and/or corporate culture. Some companies don’t use these at all. However, injecting a corporate culture officer into the interview process to help a company assess corporate cultural fit is relatively new to the IT searches that we’ve conducted recently.
